Case Study: The Rockhampton Rose
A modular home project that began with one couple’s desire to bring heritage character to a regional town—despite financing hurdles, supply delays, and the logistical challenges of relocating a home across Queensland.
Challenge
In regional and remote Queensland, limited housing supply and rising construction costs create significant barriers for homeownership. Traditional builds are slow and expensive. Major banks often decline finance for properties in these areas, leaving few viable options for residents seeking affordable and timely solutions—especially those who wish to preserve heritage or character design.
Solution
We delivered a transportable home affectionately known as The Rockhampton Rose—a modular build that combined heritage charm with modern practicality. The home was transported over 1,000 km in two halves and professionally reconnected on-site. We helped source tailored finance through alternative providers and ensured full service connection post-delivery. The house preserved regional architectural character while offering a swift and affordable delivery solution.
Result
The project remains ongoing, but strong community interest has already been generated. The build has shown locals that a character-filled, relocatable home is both viable and appealing in remote areas. While we’ve intentionally taken a slower pace with the finishing stages, the completed home will provide lasting proof of concept. This model could inform future relocatable builds across Queensland’s housing-constrained regions.
